You wear orange if you self-injure, white if you know someone who self-injures or offer support to those who do, and both colors if you are a recovering self-injurer. It could be anything; usually you wear a bracelet, but it could be your socks if that’s what you want to do.

You don’t have to wear the colors. For long time I would wear white because I didn’t want people to know, so I don’t blame people if they don’t want to wear the colors. All that matters is that people participate in some way. As long as the message is sent out, then the day serves its purpose.

So spread the word and get people involved and aware.

Even if all you do is reblog someone else’s self injury awareness post on tumblr, or post a self injury helpline link on FB, ANY little bit helps! If you want more ideas on how you can help, you may be able to find some on www.recoveryourlife.com, you could also google.
